We did it and had fun!
Overall, the fun run was a great success. Our McDole students kept their feet moving despite the weather’s lack of cooperation! There were great tunes, poms, McDole bracelets and most of all LOTS OF FUN! We had a LOT of parents, grandparents, siblings and supporters cheering us on. Thank you for being such a great cheering crowd!
  
What About the $$$?
Over the past three weeks, 145 students have turned in $5,440.46 in cash, checks and online donations. Nicely done McDole! We have one more week to collect donations however, and this week is still very important.

It has become tradition that every year, the PTO budgets to provide each grade level with $1,000 in “Wishlist Funds.” This money is earmarked for the grade levels to request in detailed proposals to provide supplemental items for the school. In the past years this money has been spent (as requested) on classroom books and reading technology, math curriculum, the subsidization of the 4th Grade Springfield trip, classroom supplies, and more. These Wishlists alone require $6,000 in PTO funds. Currently, our Fun Run funds are not sufficient to cover this amount.

What happens if we don’t raise enough money? If the funds don’t come in to cover the budgetary needs of the PTO, the PTO will be forced to consider the priority of the items in its budget which may even lead to a second fundraiser in the spring.

During morning announcements on October 1st, we will be drawing the winner of a Kindle Fire as well as announcing prizes for the donations collected by our students. It would be so exciting if we could add another $3,000 to our gross Fun Run funds by this date! Can you help to make that happen?

Thank you so much to the students who participated last Friday in moving for McDole.  Thank you to the parents who volunteered to help at the Fun Run and to all of those who came out to cheer on the students. Thank you to the staff and administration for helping to execute the actual Fun Run itself. Thank you to the PTO Board for the guidance and support as we planned this fundraiser. Thank you to parents, friends and family who have already financially supported the PTO, and therefore benefiting the students in the classroom.

It's Fun Run Day, Yay!
Just a reminder that today is the day our students run for fun(ds)!  It looks as if it will be a chilly day,but we're hoping it stays dry, so PLEASE have your student(s) dress accordingly! Also, be sure to send them with water to have during their run.

Students, get ready for Friday by:

  •  Continuing to collect donations to support your school and earn great prizes!
  • Wearing comfortable clothes and appropriate shoes for running!
  • Bringing a water bottle labeled with your name to help you stay energized and hydrated!
Parents, Family and Friends, get ready by:
  • Helping your students collect donations, donations, donations!
  • Coming and cheering on your students as they run!

IT’S NOT TOO LATE TO VOLUNTEER TO HELP!
Contact the Fun Run Coordinator, Stephanie Beattie, at beattiestephanie@gmail.com for information on volunteering. We need help outside with the students, keeping things ‘running’ smoothly as well as inside counting donations and tallying prizes.

Kindergarten (AM & Extended): 9:55 to 10:25

WEATHER PERMITTING, OUR STUDENTS WILL BE RUNNING OUTSIDE.
For the safety of our students, we need to keep a record of who is on school property. 

PLEASE sign in/out at the registration table outside when you come to watch your students run, just like you would inside the school when you are visiting.

Fun Run Update!
The Fun Run is only ONE WEEK AWAY and our Fun Run lunchtime coin collection is in full swing! After two weeks of fun run donations being collected, our coin jars at lunch look like this:
Kindergarten: 5 Participation Coins
1st Grade: 10 Participation Coins
2nd Grade: 5 Participation Coins
3rd Grade: 5 Participation Coins
4th Grade: 5 Participation Coins
5th Grade: 6 Participation Coins

Out of 623 students at McDole, only 35 have brought in donations, or received donations online as of today. These students have raised $1,113.65.
We are so proud of these students, but we have a LONG way to go! Pick up the phone and call Grandmas, Grandpas, Aunts and Uncles! Take a walk and ask the neighbors down the street! Collect cash, checks (payable to McDole PTO) and online donations!
It is time to kick it into full gear to make this our biggest fun run ever!

Don't forget to share the link to donate online with your family and friends!  When they donate, make sure they enter the student's FULL NAME as well as the Teacher's name.  Here is a screen shot from PayPal that shows where this information goes. Be sure to click on the plus sign next to "URGENT: Enter Student's Full Name/Teacher" to open the text box to write in the information so your student gets credit for their donations!

What is the Fun Run?

The McDole Fun Run is an outdoor run-a-thon designed just for kids! Laced with music, a cheering squad, and prizes, this event is a fun way to get our students moving and raise money for our school all at the same time! Funds raised supply grade level books, support student activities and subsidize classroom technology—every student benefits!

What Do I Do?
°    Print this flyer from Konnect.
°    Collect Donations: Cash, Check, Online
°    Meet or exceed your $50 individual donation goal.   (That’s only five $10 gifts!)
°    Get ready to run!

How Do I Turn My Money In?
The file on Konnect contains a donation form. Print the form and use it to track all of your donations: cash, check and on-line. When you are done collecting, place the money AND the form inside an envelope labeled with your student’s information. You can use the one you received in your student's backpack this week.  We will be collecting money every Friday in September. Turn money in each week to help us track our progress and to earn special prizes! Did you only collect online donations? Then total them on your form and turn that in the same way.

How Can I Help?

Everyone is a Winner!
°    All participating students will earn a participation prize.
°    Students who raise $50 will earn a pedometer.
°    Students who raise $100 will earn a glow in the dark sports bottle.
°    The first student to raise $75 in ONLINE donations will earn one semester of Fun Lunch!
°    The first student to raise $150 in ONLINE donations will earn a full year of Fun Lunch!
°    For every $100 a student raises, they will be entered in a raffle to win a Kindle Fire! (Oct. 1)
°    The classroom that raises the most $$, will get to eat lunch with our very own Mr. Drendel!

We understand that it can get hard to reach individual goals for each of your children, especially when you have three or more students at our school.  For that reason, we have set the following Fun Run Family Goals.
°    Families who raise $100 will earn each of their McDole students a pedometer.
°    Families who raise $200 will earn each of their McDole students a glow in the dark sports bottle.
°    For every $200 a family raises, the family will be entered in a raffle to win a Kindle Fire! (Oct. 1)


Reach Donation Goals Electronically…It's EASY to Donate On-Line!
1.      Visit www.mcdolefunrun.blogspot.com.  (You are there right now!) Click on the ‘DONATE’ button at the top of the page.
2.      Enter the donation amount and press the "Update Total" button.
3.      Sign in to your PayPal account or click ‘CONTINUE’ near the bottom if you don’t have an account.
4.   Continue to complete your donation, making sure to add your student’s full name and teacher’s name to your donation, so they get credit to earn prizes. You're Done!
